Though the Bistro was a far make-over and a lot simpler than its original predecessor – the Fat Michael’s Place, it has managed to retain its old charm and appeal.

Earth Kitchen

“Remember when you leave this Earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received. Only what you have given.”
- Unknown

Organic. Local. Sustainable. These are just among the things that Earth Kitchen promotes and advocates. A joint project by the Got Heart Foundation and Hizon's Catering, Earth Kitchen was borne out of the foundation’s desire to help local farmers and indigenous communities by showcasing their natural products. Got Heart develops grassroots social enterprises among these marginalized groups all over the Philippines, and promotes natural farming technology, a viable alternative to chemical farming.

The first thing I love about Earth Kitchen is its revolving wooden door.

Some natural elements of Earth greeted me, once I entered. With its wooden chairs and tables, and hanging plants, ambiance of restaurant is refreshing and relaxing. It seems like a native green house.

But the stellar attraction of the place is the food. They aren't only tasty, they are organic and healthy. Eating healthy simply makes me happy.

Hot green tea

Prawn spring rolls

Watermelon and rocket salad

Shrimp and arugula pasta

Organic chicken

The Got Heart Farmers Market and Art Gallery Shop is just right beside Earth Kitchen.

The earth is what we all have in common. So make sure to pay a visit to this wonderful kitchen planet.

When Uan Met Sally

There are times I make a lot of assumptions mainly because I don’t know the basic truth. I’m sure everybody else is as guilty as I am.

One weekend morning, I found myself standing in front of a little quaint boutique and coffee shop named “When Uan Met Sally”. It seems the name of the store was inspired from the 80s romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, and so I assumed right away that Uan and Sally are a couple.

But boy I was wrong. The concept behind the store is all about art story not love story. The lady attendant manning the store said that Uan and Sally are just friends. And they are both girls who obviously love birds, hand-painted denim bags, rosaries from Jerusalem, cute trinkets and artistic shirts.

One of my favorite lines in the movie was when Harry said “There are two kinds of women: high maintenance and low maintenance.” Sally asked him “Which one am I?” and he replied “You're the worst kind. You're high maintenance but you think you're low maintenance."

I think too that Uan and Sally are both high maintenance.

But that’s just me assuming.

Banana Beach Resort

Love bananas?

There’s a one-of-a-kind beach resort in Tagum located within a banana plantation that offers guests unlimited ripe bananas. Not only that, the resort is so expansive that it also has a mini forest populated by monkeys and wild boars for trekking, river for cruising, man-made lagoon for fishing and beach for swimming or banana ride.

Ah minions would love this place! Ba-na-na!
