La Hacienda of Naujan

Come from a sanctuary of peace and you’ll find that you can deal with anything.

About an hour away from Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Naujan is a quiet town of pristine beauty. One of its best-kept secrets is the picturesque La Hacienda, a secluded and lush haven for people who want to escape from the stressful city life. Once a family hideaway for personal healing, meditation and retreat, the 26-hectare hacienda resort boasts of private villas and recreational amenities, and offers guests a chance to experience and enjoy farm life, without getting dirty. Literally.

The resort’s main entrance is well-guarded. And the pathway leading to the main house is adorned with lovely Balinese statues.

The main house known as Villa Hermana was the first and original structure of the resort. This is where the registration area, lobby, entertainment and game rooms are located.

I was happy to see R2D2. I welcome anachronism sometimes.

Right in front of the main house is a massive beautiful fountain.

The resort promises comfort and luxury for its guests. It has two single-detach villas and a duplex, good for four to eight persons, respectively. They are fitted with modern furnishings with touches of traditional Filipino elements.

Fitta’s Eden is the resort’s signature two-story family house. It has a well-manicured garden and a balcony, overlooking verdant farm and mountains. The panoramic view could be quite soothing and relaxing.  But what truly make the house so astonishing are its state-of-the-art facilities that aim to pamper guests, treating them as if they were really hacienderos. I was in awe upon seeing a luxury massage chair, an enticing bathtub, and an abanico-inspired ceiling fan right within the confines of the room.

Think of staying not just overnight but forever in this modern day-Eden? Tempting like the forbidden apple.

A short-distance away from Fitta’s is the Plaza Nanos, a stand-alone function place, which is a good venue for intimate weddings or parties.

Another thing to look forward in the resort is their sumptuous food.  Waking up to a breakfast banquet of danggit, sausages, bangus sardines, red eggs and fried bananas served at Casa Comida, is an invigorating way to start the day.

Gather hope while basking in the wonders of mother nature. It was wonderful seeing horses, goats and sheep roam unrestrained around the ranch. It reminds me that the best gift in this world is freedom.

The pool area is another main attraction of the resort. It comes with an outdoor spa and sauna to complete the total relaxation and rejuvenation experience. The pool water is as placid as the surroundings and reflects the beautiful colors of dusk.

I wish I never had to leave. But then again, happiness isn’t always a constant. But no matter how fleeting it is, this whole experience made me whole again.
