A misconception remains a misconception, even when shared by most of the people.
I’ve always thought that Hello Kitty was a cat. I was wrong. My latest research and visit to the Hello Kitty Café rectified my wrong notion about one of the well-loved animated creatures in the planet. Hello Kitty isn’t a cat but a British girl with a face resembling that of a bobtail cat. Although she was conceived by the Japanese company Sanrio, her backstory tells that she was born in a suburb outside of London. As a matter of fact, she is never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. And she’s a perpetual 3rd-grade student who has her very own pet cat.

Anyway, the Hello Kitty Café at Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City is the very first Philippine branch which opened last 2017. The café has very cute French-inspired and vibrant interiors filled with Hello Kitty memento and various Sanrio items; and offers appetizing food and savory pastries and desserts. The café is oozing with positivity just enough to put a big smile on every little girl’s and all other diners’ faces.
I just wonder, when will I ever see Hello Kitty smile?
