Relics Cafe

“Mostly it is loss which teaches us about the worth of things.”
- Arthur Schopenhauer

The saddest news I heard Naga-related this year was not the resignation of VP Leni from President Duterte’s cabinet. It was the unexpected closing of Relic’s.

I will miss the first home of the first ever museum café of Naga City - the historical Dabu Building, one of the very few places in Bicol marked by the National Historical Commission, having served as a haven for presidents and statesmen who  have made a rippling mark in the colourful history of the Philippines.

Relics now has relocated to its second home - perhaps better; perhaps more convenient. But perhaps, nothing will ever come close to the first.
