If you’re feeling blue, try painting yourself a different color. Or better yet have a royal staycation at Kamiseta, Baguio’s prettiest and most colourful boutique hotel.
From the leading retail brand of fashionable and hip casual apparel in the Philippines, Kamiseta ventures in hospitality industry by opening a stylish designer hotel right in the heart of the City of Pines. It was built to impress, excite the senses and brighten up every guest’s holiday break or escape to the country’s summer capital.
For a moment, I was lost for words when I stepped in the hotel lobby reminiscent of lavish French-inspired chateaus or the opulent Palace of Versailles. The perfect blend of elegant pieces of furniture, shining shimmering crystal chandelier hanging from a mirrored ceiling, mismatched floral chairs, wallpapers and carpets, gold frames, vintage vases, and porcelain figurines, exceptionally recreated the Victorian era.

I stayed in dainty and eye-candy deluxe rooms named Natalia and Natalie. They are in honor of brand endorsers Natalia Vodianova and Natalie Portman. The rooms feature queen-size bed, flat screen TV, Wifi access, and private bathroom with Chopard bath essentials. Actually, I don’t feel the need to go out with all the comfort and amenities the rooms offer.
Not to be outshined is the salon and drawing room exclusively for checked-in guests’ use. It’s chic and sophisticated. A friend remarked that it is comparable to a busy print. I’d like to interpret it as a beautiful mess.
The hotel also partnered with Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, which is practically a life-size dollhouse café. Every corner is a photogenic spot; every Alice in Wonderland chair I want to sit on.
Even the café’s comfort room is nicely designed with inspirational and funny quotes. I like “when in doubt, eat a cupcake.”
The cafe serves not only their delectable signature vanilla cupcakes but also a decent, appetizing buffet breakfast, complimentary to checked-in guests and only P200+ for walk-in guests. For its price, it’s quite a steal.
Completing the fancy experience is the Glass House, a unique events venue and space, overlooking pine trees. It serves as an extension of the café when it is not booked for private celebrations. Being more open, the area is cooler early in the morning and evening.
The explosion of colors and patterns at Kamiseta is striking and extraordinary. “Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions," artist Pablo Picasso once observed. Scientifically, people respond to different colors. In color psychology, orange represents enthusiasm and fascination, pink characterizes positive aspects of traditional femininity, blue is associated with being peaceful and imaginative, yellow arouses cheerfulness, red is linked to power and passion. Just imagine almost a hundred colors and shades I saw all over the place. They made me feel multiple emotions at once, but never sad or livid.
