Panay Church and Asia’s Biggest Bell

The belfry of Sta. Monica Church in Panay, Capiz holds the biggest bell not only in the Philippines but the whole of Asia. Locally known as dakung lingganay (big bell), it weighs 10.4 tons and was completed in 1878 from 70 sacks of coins belonging to the town people. Imagine the echo of these bells could reach eight kilometers far.

And from the belfry, you get to see the rustic beauty of Panay and wonder if love and regret also echo to eternity.
